Lucian Matis Puts The Magic Into Fashion

One of our favorite collections for Toronto Fashion Week is the Lucian Matis fall collection. Matis, who is mostly known for being the runner up on Project Runway Canada, seems to be able to compete with the big wigs of the fashion industry. The collection has a wearable quality while at the same time, looks avant garde.





Lucian Matis uses gold, grey and black in this collection, with lots of pattern, lace and embellishemnt. The craftmanship and structure of these garments is amazing. Matis creates full hips and shoulders, without being bluky.





The inspiration for the collection goes back to Matis' Romanian heritage, with the textiled patterns and high neklines. Loving the incorporation of the silk leggings and elbow length gloves to create sleek lines amongst all the busy patterns and details.





We would love to get our hands one of these dresses!

Chanel's Chinese Inspired Dreams

Chanel's pre-fall 2010 show took place in Shanghai with the beautiful Chinese skyline in the background. The Chanel Paris - Shanghai Metiers d'Art collection was nothing short of amazing! The coats (men's and women's) were fantastic with luxurious materials and embroidery. Some were made from tweed and quilting, while others were embroidered to the max with beads and jewelry to compliment the complexity.






I desperatly need these boots!




This one has an amazing 1950's feel to it. She looks like the poster girl for an army wife.



We see inspiration from the Imperial court, the Terracotta Army (funerary art buried with the first emperor of Qin.) and Chinese Cinema. Below we have captured a few images of these inspirations in actuallity so you can see the inspiration for yourselves.



Karl Lagerfeld describes is collection as "It's about the idea of China, not the reality. It has the spirit of and is inspired by, but unrelated to China."










How perfectly simple is this dress?



Another thing we are loving about this collection is the makeup! Loving those heavy slanted brows and the extended eyeliner, all matched with those rice workers hats and traditional Mandarin Qipao gowns.




Loving this one! The boys I know need this jacket!






I'm not normally a fan of red boots (usually they are too Superman for me) but they work well here.

Lingerie Francais - The Secrets of Seduction

Who does lingerie better than the French? They seem to be the experts in this area of fashion and we found out the new trends in lingerie at the Secrets of Seduction fashion show at Wychwood Barns in Toronto.



The Toronto fashion celebs were out on Wednesday night to fix their eyes on the sexy models and of course their barely there lingerie. The show started out with Lejaby, who choose faux fur wraps and little military hats to complete the look of their lacy bras and panties.



Empreinte went the hipster route giving all the models thick framed glasses, which we thought very clever! Gives the monochromatic lingerie a little more edge.



Simone Perele was all about bright reds and pinks and mixing the two colors.



Elixir lingerie was naughty and playful with masks and gloves....imagine that in the bedroom.



Passionata had lingerie of all colors and shapes, but all the models walked out with giant feather fans to hide behind when feeling shy.



Gerbe was an interesting collection of body suits, very Broadway!



Lastly, Chantelle finished things off with tiny thongs and ended the show with a bride and (female) groom!



All Toronto fashion shows seem not complete with out some sort of acrobatics show for the intermission. The lingerie show was no acception to the trend! Ballerinas stepped out on the runway twisting and flying in the air on ropes! Amazing sights!

The Art Of Seduction - Princesse Tam Tam

At the Art of Seduction lingerie fashion show in Toronto, Princesse Tam Tam was one of the lingerie designs that got noticed on the runway. The bright colors and girly fabrics were a hit compared to the sexy lacy lingerie. The name of the company Princesse which suggests elegance and Tam Tam which means playfulness is the perfect description of the line.

The Art Of Seduction - Lise Charmel Show

The Carlu in Toronto was overflowing with Canadian fashionistas for the Art of Seduction lingerie fashion show. One show consisting of 11 different lingerie companies from France walked the runway. Lise Charmel designs describe themselves as reinventing the romantics in lingerie.

The Art Of Seduction - Barbara Lingerie Show

Thursday night in Toronto at the Carlu, 11 French lingerie designers showed their new fall/winter collections on the runway. Barbara Paris was one of the lingerie designs shown that night, with florals, and royal accents. "Barbara takes into account women's desire for seduction and wearability through tradition of excellence and creativity."

Loreal Fashion Week - RUDSAK

One of the hit shows at Loreal Fashion Week in Toronto was by RUDSAK. The Canadian label, specializing in outerwear, was started by designer Evik Asatoorian and they have a few boutiques throughout Canada. RUDSAK focuses on leather outerwear and accessories. The fashion week show consisted of mostly grey leather with red leather accessories. The Toronto boutique is located at 315 Queen street west.
